GLENFIDDICH AUCTIONS
Two more of the exclusive 11 bottles of the Janet Sheed Roberts Glenfiddich whisky have been auctioned off for charity. Bottle 3 beat the previous world record for the highest amount of money paid for a single bottle of whisky, which was held by Bottle 1 which raised £46,850 when auctioned in Edinburgh last November.
Bottle 3 raised an amazing £59,335 at the event held on New York’s Liberty Island in March and was bought by a ‘renowed whisky investor’ Mahash Patel. The auction’s proceeds were donated to the charitable arm of the sustainable development company SHFT. Co-founders of SHFT, actor Arian Grenier and Producer Peter Glatzer were at the event, as was Glenfiddich’s Master Distiller Brian Kinsman.
The World Duty Free Group (WDFG) are the proud owners of Bottle 7 which managed to raise £42,000 at the beginning of May. The winning bid for the bottle was announced at London’s Mall galleries. This coincided with the unveiling of Artist John Wonnacott’s new portrait of Janet Sheed Roberts who sadly passed away in April this year. The money raised for this bottle will go to The Lotus Flower Trust and is to be used to fund the project in Uttrakhand, India to open a home & school for disabled children. |
