Brodie NairnIn 2002 Brodie returned to his native Highlands of Scotland after a decade of making glass in Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany and United States. During this time he has worked with many of the leading glass designers/makers within Europe and the USA most notably Philip Baldwin and Monica Guggisberg, Michael Kramer and Richard Price.Brodie's recent work explores tension and balance. He contrasts outer surfaces with inner shapes, sensual curves with hard edges. He calls the original blown a 'pod' and, with this organic image in mind with great precision, he cuts through the glass to reveal its structure. This dissected work creates a window into another world where dancing curves and open spaces contrast and unite.
